Convert PNG to JPG

Useful when an upload form insists on JPEG, or when a photo was saved as PNG and is far larger than it needs to be.

or click to browse — you can select several at once

How to use it

  1. Drop your PNG files onto the box below.
  2. Set the quality. 90 is safe for photographs.
  3. Press Process files and download the JPG versions.

Best for photographs, not screenshots

JPEG was designed for continuous-tone images, so photographs convert beautifully and shrink a great deal. Screenshots of text and interfaces are the opposite case: JPEG smears the sharp edges of letters and leaves visible halos. For those, convert to WebP instead, which handles hard edges properly and still saves space.

What happens to transparency

Transparent areas are filled with white, because JPEG cannot store transparency at all. If your PNG is a logo or an icon meant to sit on a coloured background, JPEG is the wrong destination and the white box will follow it everywhere.

Questions

Which is better, PNG or JPG?

Neither. PNG is right for graphics, transparency and anything needing exact pixels. JPG is right for photographs where a small loss is invisible and the size saving is large.

Can I convert back to PNG later?

You can, but the detail JPEG discarded is gone for good. The result will be a PNG of a lossy image, not the original.
